About me
I’m Cristian, a Postdoctoral researcher at the university of Stirling, Scotland. I’m interested in extracting information from freely available aerial images supported by statistical and machine learning algorithms. In my current position as a radar remote sensing scientiest, I am developing novel methods for near-real time monitoring of surface water extent from SAR satellite imagery. This includes soil moisture and peatland water table depth monitoring and flood/drought mapping applications. I am also developing the data ingestion and processing chains to make these algorithms operational.
Previously, I worked as an electrical engineer in Colombia, my home country. Before the PhD, I studied an MSc at Swansea university in Wales, a postgrad specialization course in project management and my BSc in Colombia. Have a look at my CV for more information.
In my free time you can find me running, wild-swiming, hiking, socialising or learning a new coding trick.
